Class Description

If you are someone battling cancer, know someone who is, or are interested in learning diet and lifestyle recommendations for preventing cancer, this class is for you. Regardless of age or stage of life, you will come away with tips to begin implementing in your own life, right now. These recommendations can help promote a healthy weight, improve strength and functionality during treatment, and improve overall quality of life. We will tackle a variety of topics related to nutrition and cancer, including; nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for cancer prevention, nutrition during cancer treatment, (navigating side effects from treatment as well as cancer itself), and cancer survivorship. All of the information discussed will be evidence-based, meaning, based on the best available current scientific research. These recommendations are also consistent with guidelines from the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association for prevention of coronary artery disease and diabetes as well as general health promotion.

Sifting through the vast nutrition information available these days can be overwhelming and confusing. In addition to providing you evidence-based recommendations, we will also discuss some common nutrition/cancer myths, how they may be harmful, and look at what the research tells us about these myths.

You will come away with some excellent resources and recipes to help you apply what you’ve learned. Health is a lifelong journey. Join us to kick off this journey together.
