Inspire Creativity, Build Community, and Raise Awareness About Food Insecurity and Hunger in Chelan and Douglas Counties

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight the growing issue of food insecurity and hunger across the world through artistic expression, community engagement, and education on how to contribute to hunger relief actions. Here in Wenatchee, Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council hosts, with the help of several generous sponsoring local businesses and organizations, community bowl paintings throughout the winter months and a simple soup and bread dinner in the spring to do just that.

Wenatchee Valley Empty Bowls is an annual event designed to bring together the community through creative expression and hunger relief education. At this event community members are invited, in exchange for a $10 donation, $35 for a family of up to five, to come and paint a commemorative ceramic bowl at one of four community paintings and attend a simple soup and bread dinner. Each year the event is sponsored both financially and in-kind by local businesses and organizations who are passionate about reducing the effects of hunger and building a healthy and happy community.
