The Pybus University class on Tuesday, October 9 from 7pm to 8:15pm is entitled “Women’s Self-Defense: Are You Prepared?” taught by instructor Kari Erickson.

Self-defense is a set of awareness, assertiveness, verbal skills, safety strategies and simple physical techniques that enable someone to successfully analyze, escape, resist, and survive physical assault. During this class you’ll learn the 3 P’s of Self-Defense: Prevention, Preparation, and Physical Reaction.
The class will include lecture, discussion, and easy to remember self-defense techniques that will better enable attendees to prepare an effective response ahead of time in much the same way you would prepare for a fire drill. The key to prevention is situational awareness and developing good habits to support this. Using awareness of surroundings and knowing your own physical strengths and limitations will help you develop strategies to respond appropriately should the need ever arise.

Kari Erickson is a 7th degree Black Belt teaching martial arts since 1987. She and her husband, Dave O’Connor, moved to Wenatchee to open the Wenatchee School of Karate in 1994 where they teach students ranging in age from 3 to 78 years old. Kari is committed to the benefits of life-long learning and passing that information on to others. Kari has taught Women’s Self-Defense, Karate, Tai Chi, Fencing, and Aerobic Kick-boxing at numerous locations throughout the Wenatchee Valley.

Class is limited to 50 participants.
