Art Alley Reception for Jan Cook Mack & Michele Knutson

Please join us here at Pybus Market’s Art Alley this FRIDAY, March 3rd.  A reception will be held for Jan Cook Mack & Michele Knutson from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

The idea of a PINK show evolved over time. Painting local orchards in bloom, and bouquets from her own garden and those of friends, Jan uses many shades of pink. My own preference for the color pink kept showing up in the subjects I chose to paint. Eventually, it became a running joke. I would ask Jan, “what would look good here?” And she’d say “why not fill it in with pink?” As Jan’s studio walls filled with paintings waiting to dry and then be sold, and my paintings began to fill the student wall with paintings to dry and then come home, we noticed a theme. The walls of her studio were covered in warm and cheerful colors and subjects — golden yellow pears, pink peach blossoms, shiny yellow Rainier cherries,  landscapes with a tinge of a pink sunrise — colors that made us smile.

Our hope with this show is to bring a sense of joy and playfulness to the walls of Art Alley and give visitors to Art Alley and Pybus Public Market a reason to smile.
