Jennifer Evenhus: Reception: September 2, 2022 ART ALLEY from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm
Jennifer “Jen” Evenhus discovers magic in her subjects with simplification and exaggeration, fearless mark-making, and intense and subtle hues in both pastel and oils. Using her trademark style “the beauty of imperfection,” she reveals the soul of her subject with a unique, bold sense of color and design, sometimes creating chaos before refining and defining with negative painting. Her work is contemporary with abstract leanings.
Jen was a popular national workshop instructor for the past 15 years, giving “The Beauty of Imperfection” pastel workshops, until the Pandemic forced her to adopt the virtual workshop format for her students. She has been published in magazines such as The Pastel Journal, American Artist, Pratique des Arts French Magazine, PSWC Magazine, IAPS Magazine The Globe, PSA Pastel-a-gram, and Pastel World. Jen’s award-winning work has been included in many National and International Juried Exhibits. She received Best of Show in the 2020 Northwest Pastel Society 34th Annual International Juried Exhibition and the Bill McEnroe Award in the 2021 NPS 35th Annual, both held at the Prestigious American Art Company Gallery in Tacoma, WA.
Jen is an International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle Member, a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist, Northwest Pastel Society Distinguished Pastelist, and Pastel Society of the West Coast Signature Member. Jen is also a member of the American Impressionist Society. View recent work on her website www.jenevenhus.com.
