Guy Miner: “Butterflies to Bears, Northwest Wildlife”
Guy Miner is a USMC veteran and retired law enforcement officer, who finds solace in the mountains and canyons of the vast Northwest. He can be found traveling by jeep or motorcycle to photograph wildlife. He enjoys camping, fishing, and wandering with his camera and dog to photograph the wild places and the wildlife there. He has traveled north into the Arctic, south into the deserts, and as far east as Wyoming and Colorado, where he can be found “wandering with a purpose” with his camera. Most of his photos though are taken within a few miles of Wenatchee. His photos and writing were first published in the 1970s but his career in the Marines and law enforcement curtailed much of that. Since retirement, he’s had a lot more time to pursue his passion for photography in the wild which has helped him find peace after decades of being on edge
“Preventing the animal from becoming stressed due to my presence is important. The use of a telephoto lens helps me maintain a safe and respectful distance from the creature, and lets them relax, continuing with their normal life”.
A percentage of the sales of Guy’s photos are contributed to the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, ensuring that future generations also have wild places to roam.
Please welcome Guy Miner to Art Alley for the month of May. A Reception will be held in Art Alley this Friday, May 5th from 5 pm – 7 pm.
