About the series – Fluid Horizons
This collection of recent paintings combines ink washes, spray painting, fluid acrylics, and masking techniques.
My method leans towards processes that demand both dexterity and fluidity where I can let go without losing control. I work in series, several paintings at once. This practice keeps my mind loose and encourages me not to overthink each mark. It helps to make the process less precious and lends itself to opportunities to take greater risks without fear.
In this landscape series, an accidental night sky emerged. While I was layering spray paint on rotated upside-down panels a dynamic horizon was revealed. This shift changed my interaction with the series, where I saw the sky’s reflection come together with a fluid landscape.
Coincidentally, a few weeks after completing this series I saw the northern lights for the first time ever… and the title for this show was revealed… “Fluid Horizons”.
Through these paintings, I invite viewers to reflect on the balance between nature’s tranquility and its inherent chaos.
