Description: We live in an area where wildfires are common, but have you stopped to think what you would grab if you needed to evacuate right now? Do you have your paperwork ready to go in case you get that call? Do you even know what you should take with you? Lori will help you to think through all these questions, answer each one and have you prepared before disaster strikes! This class will provide information on preparing for evacuation during a wildfire, putting together your “Grab and Go” items, and creating your wildfire evacuation action plan checklist. We will have examples of a “Grab and Go” file and a suitcase packed with essentials and ready to go, as well as handouts.
Bio: Lori Nitchals is a retired RN. After she was evacuated during the 1994 wildfires in Leavenworth, she decided it would be wise to create a Grab and Go file for important papers and a list of items to be kept in a pre-packed suitcase during wildfire season. After the 2015 fires devastated our community, she wanted to share the lists she had developed from her research on the Red Cross and FEMA websites, as well as from her own personal experience, with others. Lori has done this presentation at her church and for other local organizations.
