Artist Reception: Friday, September 5th, from 5 -7 pm.

Wenatchee First Friday. Art Alley @ Pybus. The artist for September is Sue Edick!  Please join us on Friday, September 5th, from 5 – 7 pm for an artist reception.  Art Alley @ Pybus showcases a new artist every month for First Fridays for our local community. All art sold throughout the month supports the Pybus Market Charitable Foundation and the arts in our valley. We provide a fun community experience for the visual arts in Wenatchee, WA.

“These paintings show modest, peaceful spaces that I found intriguing. The spaces are uninhabited. It’s the contents and the lighting that inspired me to paint them. My scenes are natural as I avoid staging them by adding or moving objects; leaving things just the way I find them seems to work better than a contrived setting.  I photograph the space, which provides the framework of the painting, then welcome the way the camera warps the perspectives and creates dramatic angles included in my compositions.”

“The medium I used for these paintings is gouache, a water-based paint similar to watercolors but with a higher pigment concentration and matte finish. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts while living in Wisconsin, where I was born and raised. While I did not pursue an art career, I never lost my love for creative expression. After I retired, I returned to my artistic roots and explored new ways to express myself. I find pleasure in combining my love of simplicity, angles, and lighting with my newfound passion for the medium of gouache painting,” Sue Edick
